To check if your resume will pass ATS in India, start with three things: format, keywords, and proof. The file should be readable by applicant tracking systems, the wording should match the role you are applying for, and every important claim should be backed by a project, metric, tool, client, or business result. Most ATS problems are not mysterious. They come from resumes that use complex layouts, missing role-specific keywords, unclear job titles, or generic responsibility bullets that do not match the job description.
How do you check if your resume will pass Indian ATS scanners?
To verify ATS readiness, copy and paste your resume's text into a plain text editor to ensure sections, headings, and contact info stay legible and properly ordered. If the job asks for React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, AWS, system design, fintech, ownership, and API performance, those ideas should appear naturally in your experience or project bullets where they are true.
What usually fails
Common ATS blockers include tables, text boxes, two-column layouts, icons used as labels, skill bars, images, headers that contain contact details, and bullets that only describe duties. A bullet like "worked on backend APIs" is weak. A stronger bullet is "built Node.js APIs for payment reconciliation, reducing manual checks by 30%."
